REPORT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

MR. PRESIDENT AND MR. SPEAKER:

We, the undersigned conferees, have had under consideration the amendments to the following entitled BILL:

S.B. No. 2436: Rivers; extend life of joint natural and scenic river study committee for 1 year.

We, therefore, respectfully submit the following report and recommendation:

1. That the House recede from its Amendment No. 1.

2. That the Senate and House adopt the following amendment:

 

AMEND by striking lines 7 through 25 in their entirety and inserting the following in lieu thereof:

Section 1. (1) The natural and scenic river study committee, created under Chapter 478, General Laws of 1998, is continued and reconstituted, and shall continue to function until it is dissolved under subsection (5) of this section. The committee shall consist of the following members: (a) the Chairman of the House Game and Fish Committee * * *; the Chairman of the House Conservation and Water Resources Committee * * *; the Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee * * *; and two (2) members of each of such committees to be appointed by the Speaker of the House; and (b) the Chairman of the Senate Wildlife and Fisheries Committee * * *; the Chairman of the Senate Environmental Protection, Conservation and Water Resources Committee * * *; the Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee; and two (2) members of each of such committees to be appointed by the chairman of the respective Senate committees.

AMEND FURTHER, the title, line 3, by inserting the following

after the word "YEAR": "AND TO RECONSTITUTE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMITTEE"
